The challenge

The Décima Tercera Ronda Intracampos II required the implementation of a community socialization and participation process prior to the bidding of oil blocks in the province of Sucumbíos. This process had to ensure that communes, communities, Indigenous peoples and nationalities, as well as settler populations within the area of influence, received clear and timely information about the bidding process and were able to express their perceptions, concerns and expectations. The challenge was to design and implement a territorial participatory process that combined effective communication, respect for cultural diversity and compliance with the principles of citizen participation and transparency in the hydrocarbons sector.

Our intervention

Antroproyectos designed and implemented the community socialization and participation process for Ronda Intracampos II, developing territorial intervention strategies aimed at informing communities about the bidding process and facilitating dialogue spaces with local stakeholders. The work included the training of territorial facilitators, the logistical planning of socialization activities and the implementation of community assemblies in the territory.

Methodology

The intervention was structured in three main phases: preparation, territorial socialization and information processing. The process included territorial data collection, stakeholder mapping, the development of communication tools, the implementation of community outreach activities and the organization of participatory assemblies. In parallel, mechanisms were developed to record and analyze community perceptions in order to document the social conditions of the territory.

Results

The project enabled the implementation of a community participation process that facilitated the socialization of the oil bidding process with communities within the area of influence. As a result, verifiable participation records were generated, along with databases of territorial stakeholders, analyses of social perceptions and documentation of territorial conditions relevant to the decision-making process.

What we did differently

Antroproyectos designed a territorial participation process that combined strategic communication, intensive fieldwork and intercultural understanding of Amazonian communities. This approach enabled more effective dialogue spaces and the collection of relevant territorial information to understand social perceptions regarding the oil process.

Generated impact

The process strengthened transparency and community participation in the development of Ronda Intracampos II, generating strategic social information for public decision-making and facilitating dialogue between the State and communities in the territory.
